The Speares

Living the life in Muskoka

Oastler Lake
May 30 - Jun 3

A strange little park. Very close by - about an hour's drive. About a five minute drive to Parry Sound's Walmart, which is good because there was a boil water advisory on the whole time we were there. We stayed in site # 426, just around the corner from a multi-generation family of indeterminant number who had a really bitchin' stereo playing bollywood bebop. Also there were trains every few minutes. Next time consider site # 406.

There are no hikes in the park, but the Rose Point trail is across the road and actually joins Parry Sound to Algonquin Park and thn becomes their bicycle track (after a few missing bits of the trail). In Parry Sound there's a fun little yomp along the shoreline that is reminiscent of the shoreline yomps in Killbear.

All in all a less than stellar outing, although the Parry Sound trail system is really quite good.
